罗伯特．阿德力区执导的西部动作片。伯特．兰卡斯特在片中饰演美国原住民的领袖马萨，他坚持不向美国的骑兵队投降，以一人之力对抗一大群的骑兵，凭弓箭、匕首和枪，展开神出鬼没的反击行动。白人骑兵斥候艾尔里伯其实也同情原住民的处境，但却不得不率队展开大屠杀。卡斯特在他自己监制的这部作品中卖命演出不少惊除动作场面，也表现出他对白人欺负红人的那段历史的批判态度。本片可以说是战后美国西部开始恢复社会性关怀的早期代表作。
