怪医杜立德又回来了。在本集故事中，埃迪·墨菲（Eddie Murphy）作为一个能与动物交流的医生再次出现。名声在外的杜立德的病人是越来越多了——不仅有2条腿的人，也有4条腿的动物，多得都应付不过来了。但是，他的动物朋友们可不仅仅是来看病的，他们要从那些可恶的滥砍滥伐者手里拯救它们赖以生存的森林，它们希望杜立德医生能伸出援手。杜立德制订了一个拯救森林的计划：找一只濒临绝种又受法律保护的动物。他发现了一只生活在这片即将被砍伐掉的森林中的西太平洋熊——孤独的爱娃（Ava）。如果爱娃找到一个配偶，森林就可得以保留。杜立德立刻在马戏团里弄了头聪明伶俐，喜欢吃快餐，习惯了都市生活的熊——阿尔奇（Archie），杜立德觉得它俩蛮般配的。一开始，已被驯化的阿尔奇对此事并不感兴趣，但杜立德则设法让它相信在森林中，有一段美好的恋情正在等待着它。于是，杜立德和他的狗“来福”（Lucky）带着阿尔奇前往森林，并教会它野外生存之道。极为不幸的是，这两头熊实在不怎么相配。爱娃对阿尔奇的口齿不清和滑稽动作十分反感，另一方面阿尔奇也丧失了动物的野性和繁殖能力，两者之间根本无法产生感情……
