2005年8月29日，威力巨大的强台风卡特里娜即将袭击新奥尔良。在当地一家医院，男子诺兰·海斯（保罗·沃克 Paul Walker 饰）却迎来了人生的悲喜时刻。他刚刚迎来新出世的宝贝女儿，但美丽的妻子阿比盖尔（珍尼希斯·罗德里格兹 Genesis Rodriguez 饰）却在分娩过后撒手人寰。娇嫩的宝宝还无法适应全新的环境，只能被放在暖箱中依靠机器辅助求生。面对眼前完全陌生的小生命，诺兰和妻子一幕幕美好的回忆相继浮现眼前，令这个经历了重大悲喜变故的男人百感交集。
