◎简　　介

畅销书《行为的驱使力》的作者玛格丽特·福特是位精神分析专家，为帮助她的病人比利，一个因赌博欠债、生命受到威胁的赌徒，她实地深入赌场了解赌徒的心理状况，并在那里认识了比利的债主迈克。油嘴滑舌的迈克满嘴甜言蜜语，极力拖玛格丽特下水。在迈克的诱引下，玛格丽特自身的一部分似乎复苏了，达到了某种“解放”。她参加了一个所谓的赌博骗局，试图从中渔利，但这个精心设计的骗局却出了漏子：玛格丽特不小心杀死了一个警察，这下玛格丽特可亏大了。后来，玛格丽特发现这一切原来都是一个大骗局，她被迈克坑了。为捞回亏掉的钱，玛格丽特也设了一个局，却被迈克识破，她不得不开枪将其打死。没有了债主的玛格丽特成了一个道地的赌徒，她用迈克教她的方法去获得自己想得到的东西。
