一直到上世纪70年代以前，瑞士的政治家和宗教领袖们都认为，出于“天道”，妇女没有投票等种种权力。 诺拉是一位年轻的家庭主妇，与她的丈夫和两个儿子生活在一个宁静的小村庄里，过着与世无争的生活。在这样的瑞士乡村里，即便是1968年5月那一场浩大的政治运动也没能在当地居民中掀起什么风浪来。诺拉的生活本该不会受到任何影响——直到某一天，她突然决定要公开参加竞选，为妇女的权力奋斗。尽管受到种种挫折，也不被家人支持和理解，她仍坚持鼓动村子里的妇女们一同为自己应有的权力发声……
