◎简 介
身经百战,获得多枚奖章的海军陆战队休·富兰克将军带领部下劫走了16枚新式VX毒气弹.随后他们控制了阿卡拉岛.这里原是一个监狱,现在成了旅游地.在岛的游客全部成了人质.富兰克将军凭毒气弹和人质向国家要1亿美元,为受到不公正待遇的海军陆战队员阵亡士兵作赔偿金.
联邦调查局主任弗格森会同国防部召开会议,决定派突击队上岛.但是阿卡拉监狱防守监视十分严密,被称为"恶魔岛",从来没有人越狱成功,因此突击队根本无从进入阿卡拉监狱.在国家绝密档案中,却有一个老英国特工梅森是成功逃出阿卡拉的,只有他才能完成这次任务.为了说服梅森带人潜入阿卡拉岛,弗格森对他做了虚假承诺,告诉他将得到赦免,重获自由.梅森与化学专家斯坦利会同执行这次突袭任务的突击队员成功地从地下遂道进入了阿卡拉监狱.但不料已被放置的感受器发现,突击队被发现并被包围.混战中,突击队员全部被杀,只有梅森和斯坦利侥幸逃生.斯坦利告诉了梅森事情的真相,并请求他协助去拆除毒气导弹,梅森终于答应了.
在拆除了12枚导弹后,富兰克的部下将他们抓获.在监狱中梅森告诉斯坦利当年他的被捕是因为他掌握着一个美国政府绝密的胶卷,时至今日,它仍未失效.被捕后他成了英美两国都不承认的人.梅森轻而易举地打开了狱门,两人逃出监狱去拆除剩下的导弹.而富兰克的部下已经发现政府在欺骗他们,然而由于受重伤的富兰克将军根本不同意真正使用毒气弹去杀害无辜的人民,于是内部发生混战.富兰克将最后一枚导弹的位置告诉了斯坦利, 就死去了. 经过激烈紧张的斗争,两人终于拆除了毒气弹,成功完成了任务.但阴险狠毒的弗格森却仍旧派轰炸机炸平了阿卡拉岛.
梅森和斯坦利因及时跳入海中而幸免于死,斯坦利正好借此机会向弗格森报告说梅森已死,却将他放走了.梅森临走前将胶卷的藏匿处告诉了斯坦利.
