第一次世界大战，瑞典是中立国，法、英、德等国在这个国家都有他们的谍报组织。玛德琳以做服装生意为名穿梭于巴黎和斯德哥尔摩之间，她将绣有法国军事情报的高档女装带给斯德哥尔摩的德国情报组织、德国发现玛德琳的情报有假，开始怀疑她的身份，玛德琳从容面对一切，但她的生命已受到威胁。法国情报部门以她出卖法国假军事情报为由要求瑞典警方将玛德琳驱逐。玛德琳在瑞典警方的严密监视下视下踏上回法国的旅途，德国情报组织将在船上暗杀她，麦里维其上校将她带离商船，原来她是个优秀的法国谍报人员，而一直暗中帮她的麦里维其上校则是德国和法国情报组织的双重间谍，玛德琳成功逃脱，上校却生死难料……
