◎简　　介

一段不堪回首的中国近代历史，由大导演张彻娓娓道来。清朝末年政局腐败，社会民不聊生，慈禧太后与一群愚昧无知的权贵大臣不但毫无抵御外国列强侵占，以及保护人民的能力，反而迷信以吞符念咒，自称无坚不摧的「义和团」可以抵御洋人，决意向列强宣战。结果导致八国联军攻陷北京，慈禧太后仓惶逃难；人民这才醒悟到，只有孙中山先生领导的革命运动，才是挽救中国的唯一希望。本片于台湾实景拍摄，战争场面浩大，并由钻石级演员压阵，包括「影坛长青树」李丽华饰演慈禧太后、「功夫小子」傅声饰演刀枪不入的「义和团」铁汉曾献汉、性感尤物胡锦饰演一代名妓赛金花、红歌星甄妮饰演赛金花义妹小菊，编写出一阙英雄儿女的壮志悲歌。
