法国电影导演。先锋派电影的代表人物之一。1897年 3月25日生于华沙，1953年卒于巴黎。爱浦斯坦原是散文作家和哲学家，曾在L.德吕克主办的电影杂志上发表文章热情称颂“第七艺术”。1922年，他首次执导了《巴斯德传》。次年，执导了根据巴尔扎克小说改编的《红色旅店》以及《忠实的心》。这些影片在蒙太奇手法的应用上十分精彩，获得了巨大成功。爱浦斯坦成为先锋时期印象主义学派的重要人物。此后爱浦斯坦开始拍摄了一些商业影片。但是他从未完全抛弃对电影艺术的探索：1927年他导演了《┩$×11》、《三面镜》，次年导演了《于谢家的没落》，其中仍使人感受到先锋派风格。

爱浦斯坦此后转向纪录片，他试图表现真实生活中的奇观壮景。1929年执导了《最后的土地》，次年执导了《乌鸦海》。1948年，他完成了最后一部短片《海之火》。
