86年的电视连续剧《缓慢燃烧》（slow burn），这部作品出人意料仅只是一部平庸的东东。与其说是depp的早期作品，不若说是标志曾大放异彩的演员爱立克罗伯茨低迷时期而留存人们记忆中的作品。

《缓慢燃烧》以阿瑟雷恩斯的正统的惊悚小说《灰烬之城》为原本，depp饰演被绑架后遭残杀的百万富翁的儿子。罗伯茨饰演曾是新闻报道记者的私家侦探。不出意料的剧情冲突中很难说鲜明地刻画了人物形象。也不是很差劲也不能说是了不起的作品，进一步说，就像乡村货车影院同时上映的两部片中的第二部那样的B级电影。

对depp而言，能和崇拜的罗伯茨一起演出，非常的开心。“他的《恶之花-激情》是留在我心底的一部特别的电影。”depp说。

罗伯茨在《吉普赛之王》展露头角之后，接连出演了《恶之花-激情》，《星光80》，《暴走机动车》等出色的电影。但自从和国税局起纠纷之后，他的演员生涯开始狂乱脱轨，只做些B级电影和录像带电影这样立即杀青的电视节目。80年代前半，傲飞的鸟突然以无法抑制之势坠落，现在仅仅作为朱丽叶罗伯茨的哥哥为人所知。
