◎简　　介

二战结束后，曾在法国参加作战的印第安土著Jimmy Picard（本尼西奥·德尔·托罗 Benicio Del Toro 饰）住进了堪萨托皮卡军事医院。这家医院以专业医治脑病而著称。Jimmy Picard罹患多种疾病：眩晕、短暂失明、失去听觉……由于找不到任何器质性病变，医生将其诊断为精神分裂症。但医院仍然决定请法国专门研究北美印第安文化的人种学家及心理学家Georges Devereux（马修·阿马立克 Mathieu Amalric 饰）进行会诊。
