明朝中期，锦衣卫指挥使在辖区内大兴牢狱，大批朝廷命官和无辜百姓冤死狱中。从此在诏狱天牢之中，每逢月圆之夜便有婴儿啼哭之声，伴随着尖利刺耳的哭声，一名身着红衣的女子便会出现在死牢，手持灯笼为自己鸣冤。红衣女子出现后几日，诏狱之内便会有人离奇惨死，相传是此前一位西域术士忍受酷刑不过，特地施法术想要假红衣女子之手借尸还魂。面对戾气日深的牢狱，新任指挥使受命调查此事，没成想更多的人离奇死亡，自己和家人也身陷囹吾，将要面对更多不可思议的诡异事件。
