故事发生在清末民初的时候，在一处偏远山区，有一个名叫“阴阳界”的荒凉小村庄。低眉顺眼的美丽女孩杏儿（孙雪梅 饰）是村中一朵令人称其向往的小花，她与养父（郭景华 饰）生活在破落颓败的大院内，但和穷小子蚱蜢（管越 饰）相互爱恋，却不知残酷的命运正向她扑来。某天杏儿神秘失踪，村民传言女孩被人杀害。似乎为了印证村民的说词，许多与鬼有关的怪事也接二连三发生，弄得村里人心惶惶，捕风捉影。 就在此刻，善于问卜吉凶的李八仙（孙飞虎 饰）来到村里，他以捉鬼之名调查杏儿失踪之谜，谁知却牵扯出十数年前一桩不为人知的离奇往事……
