罗伯特（连姆·尼森 Liam Neeson 饰）是一名画家，他的妻子在早年间过世了，这一次，他从伦敦赶往意大利，就是要处理他曾经和妻子一起生活过的那幢充满了回忆的房子的。妻子的死让罗伯特和儿子（米歇尔·理查森 Micheál Richardson 饰）之间的关系日渐疏远，对于父亲想要将房子卖掉的决定，儿子也非常的不理解，这让父子两人的感情雪上加霜。
